Religious groups unite in a rally to convince both presidential candidates to confirm their positions in light of social issues. This event relates to the concept of civil society introduced by Jean Jaques Rousseau in The Social Contract. According to Rousseau, if individuals form a civil society through the social contract and disregard their natural strengths, they will continue to remain free. Civil society consists of nongovernmental organizations or voluntary groups that assemble in pursuit of common ambitions. In this article, Christian organizations such as TheCall and Family Research Council plan to get enough information regarding evangelical concerns from both Obama and McCain. Personally, I like the idea of civil society because it allows the people to become more active in the decisions that govern future generations to come.

September 5, 2008 at 8:53 AMi like the fact that you agree with jaques because everybody in the class kind of jumped on the band wagon of not agreeing with jaques. but you actually think about it and i think you have a really good point. if i had to use my natural strengths to survive we would be more educated and actually work hard to get what they need and want. I love your connection with what we learned it really set the bar for the class and it put my blog to shame
